FAQ

Learn More About The Stewart Health Center

MANAGED CARE PLANS

WHAT DOES MEDICARE COVER?

If you’re a Cypress member and need skilled nursing care, Medicare Part A will pay for a semi-private room, meals, nursing care, rehabilitation services, medications, and medical equipment for the first 20 days at The Stewart Health Center.

From day 21-100, you will pay a daily co-insurance rate; however, if you have a supplemental insurance plan, it may cover all or part of days 21-100.

After 100 days, Medicare Part A will no longer pay for or subsidize your stay at The Stewart Health Center. If you have Medicare Part B, it may cover some of your rehabilitative services.

HOW IS ELIGIBILITY FOR MEDICARE PART A DETERMINED?

– You must have a Medicare card that reads hospital insurance.
– Your physician must certify that you need skilled nursing care on a continuing basis.
– You must have spent a minimum of 3 consecutive days (not counting the day of discharge) in a hospital no more than 30 days before entering the skilled nursing center.
– The need for skilled care must relate to the reason for hospitalization.

DO YOU ACCEPT MANAGED CARE PLANS?

Yes; however, the plan requires authorization before admission is granted.

CAN MY PRIMARY CARE DOCTOR SEE ME DURING MY STAY AT THE STEWART?

Yes, but it’s far more common for our medical director to act as your primary physician during your stay.

WHAT IS YOUR STAFF-TO-RESIDENT RATIO?

We’re committed to giving every resident of The Stewart Health Center the personalized care and attention they need. For that reason, it’s our policy to exceed the staffing mandates laid out by the state of North Carolina.

LONG-TERM CARE

WHAT KINDS OF IN-ROOM AMENITIES ARE THERE?

Every room in The Stewart Health Center is fully furnished and comes with TV, WiFi, and telephone. Of course, we encourage residents to bring small mementos and pictures to create a more familiar environment.

WHAT TYPES OF ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED AT THE STEWART?

We take pride in offering our long-term residents a robust social calendar filled with activities. Parties, movies, exercise classes, and musical programs are offered frequently.

WHAT ARE YOUR VISITING HOURS?

Visiting hours are unlimited. However, the most convenient time for residents to receive guests is between 10 AM and 9 PM.

CAN FAMILY MEMBERS DINE WITH THEIR LOVED ONES AT THE STEWART HEALTH CENTER?

Absolutely! As frequently as possible! The Stewart has its own chef and culinary staff preparing fresh meals every day.

CAN FAMILY MEMBERS TAKE THEIR LOVED ONES OUT OF THE FACILITY FOR OUTINGS?

We encourage our residents to leave if and when it’s possible. However, the front desk must be informed beforehand if a particular outing includes an overnight stay.

ARE BEAUTY/BARBER SHOP SERVICES PROVIDED?

These services are available to residents for a minimal charge.

MEMORY CARE

DO YOU OFFER MEMORY CARE?

Yes, the Magnolia is a residential neighborhood within The Stewart Health Center that’s designed specifically for our memory-care residents.  Every room is private, and residents have access to their own private dining room.

IS THE MEMORY CARE PRIVATE PAY?

Yes, although you can potentially use a long-term care insurance policy to defray the costs.

WHAT ACTIVITIES ARE OFFERED TO MEMORY CARE RESIDENTS?

Providing our memory care residents with opportunities to interact with friends and staff members is one of our top priorities. We offer a variety of activities including musical programs, exercise classes, arts & crafts, and more.
